WARRIOR SPIRIT CIRCLE

Have you ever noticed when you cross your arms over your chest you will always fold them in the same way. Did you just try it? Well if you did, you likely noticed the same hand will always be on top. For fun, try and fold your arms the other way now. How different does that feel? This exercise shows us that we are naturally attached to doing something the same way, and when we change that way it can feel uncomfortable triggering us to go back to our familiar ways.  Though changes are happening in life all of the time. Impermanence is the principle that in every part of life, life is always changing and truly cannot be controlled by us. Whether we invite the change or not, change makes us shift from the familiar-and-known to a new place of unfamiliarity and unknown. Literally all things in life are changing and evolving and it is when we fight that change we suffer.  Though when we change, we grow and build skills and strengths.  According to His Holiness The Dalai Lama, suffering is Dukkha, “meaning a painful experience which refers to our state of existence as conditioned by karma, delusions and afflictive emotions.”  Our resistance to change is just one way we can suffer, two other types of suffering are the suffering of suffering and the suffering of conditioning. The suffering of suffering is when we experience a painful situation and we create suffering around it. This type of suffering comes in forms of birth, sickness, aging and death. The third type of suffering, the suffering of conditioning which points to our ignorance and confusion towards our state of existence and the painful experiences not only in this life but also in the future.

In our spiritual quest to seek the truth, the key is, in life there will always be pains, constant change, and somethings we imagine may not turn out as we dreamed, but we need to remember, pain is inevitable but suffering is a choice!
