Not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of ourselves less. Service starts in the mind. Not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of ourselves less. When you are busy serving, you don’t have time to be critical. Any time spent criticizing others is time that could be spent serving. Only secure people can serve. Albert Schweitzer said “The only real happy people are those who have learned to serve.”
To any of you- adult students and parents- who may be on the front lines of our current challenge. To the doctors and nurses, truck drivers, grocery and pharmacy clerks, personal support workers, and any and all other professions who are going to work every day for the benefit of us all. Plus all the volunteers who are helping when and wherever they can. I hope you and your families are well.
As we say at the end of the Black Belt class

O yakuni tatete ureshīdesu - We are happy to be of service.
