Budo asks us to be diligent in the study and practice of that which will awaken us to our innate enlightenment.
We are to keep moving forward, to avoid laziness, and indulgence.
It takes constant effort to propel the student forward along the path.
Happu fukedo mo dozezu.
Even if the 8 winds blow,
Typhoons roar and the 2 worlds collide,
I remain unshakable.
We must move towards enlightenment, as a snail climbing Mt Fuji.
But do not feel overwhelmed by the length of the journey,
All you ever need do, is focus on one thing, - what you are doing. Stay on the path and put one foot in front of the other – that is all
P.T.Sodo

Sentient beings are numberless, I vow to liberate them. Desires are inexhaustible, I vow to put and end to them.
The Dharmas are boundless, I vow to master them.
The Buddha is unsurpassable, I vow to become it.
(The 4 vows of Mahayana Buddhism Rinzai) To study the path, First you must have a basis of enlightenment.
It is like having vied in a boat race:
Though you relax on idle ground as before,
Only having won can you rest.
