The most obvious benefit of Martial Arts training is self-defense. If the occasion arises, knowing how to defend yourself can save your life and the lives of those you care about. Avoiding the incident, however, is a much better choice.

One of the first benefits of training, is improved self-confidence, that makes it less likely that you will be picked on as a victim.

Jiu Jitsu

Jiu Jitsu Programme

Jiu Jitsu is the technique of suppleness, flexibility, gentleness. The origins of this Art can be traced to the period between 1120 and 1170 with the origin of Daito Ryu Aki Jitsu. Jiu Jitsu provided an excellent complement to the techniques of Karate-Do. You will learn how to fall properly without hurting yourself, how to trip and throw others, how to get out of grabbing you, how to control others with joint manipulations to stop them from attacking you.

Goju Ryu Programme

Goju Ryu Programme

The words Goju Ryu mean hard and soft tradition. Go is the Japanese word for hardness and Ju is the word for softness. Ryu means style or tradition. The system is based on the Oriental concept that all hardness and stiffness is not good, and at the same time all softness and too much gentleness is not good. Goju Ryu reflects the concept of Yin and Yang — that these two opposites should complement each other.

  • I originally join this dojo to learn self defence. Over the last 2 years, I have learned how to defend myself, be more focused, channel my energy constructively and became stronger physically and emotionally. Sensei Patrice Williams and Sensei Simonetta Mariani are excellent teachers! They have very different styles of teaching which allows learn things from two different perspectives and really gain a wealth of knowledge. The nice thing is that you have two dojos that you can attend! Hasu at Yonge and St. Clair and Sakura at Bathurst and Eglinton! Anyways, if you keep open minded and you can learn a great deal about yourself, others and your family! Dive in and change your life!

  • A great turning point in my life was the day I signed my two boys up for Karate. I decided to join too. I was 40 years old. That was 16 years ago and I now train up to 20 hours a week. In the early days my business kept me away about half the time, but our Sensei (teacher) was very accomodating. He has now coached me through my 3rd Dan (Degree) of which I am very proud.
